JON CONRAD

 

McLennan Community College to Present

Jon Conrad currently serves as Director of Bands at McLennan Community College where he conducts the Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, Waco Community Band, directs the MCC athletic and spirit bands, and teaches courses in instrumental conducting. Prior to arriving in Waco, Conrad was a Conducting Associate at the University of Oklahoma where he guest conducted the Wind Symphony, Symphony Band, Campus Bands, Pride of Oklahoma, and Sound of the Sooners.

History

A native of the Pacific Northwest, Conrad previously served as the Director of Bands at A.C. Davis High School in Yakima, Washington, where the band program doubled in size and developed a reputation of success on the concert stage and the marching field. In addition to his responsibilities at A.C Davis, he served as Assistant Director for the Washington High School All-State Marching Band. Conrad has worked as a clinician for events in Washington, Oregon, Oklahoma, and Texas.

Education

Conrad holds a Bachelor of Music in Music Education and a Master of Arts in Instrumental Conducting from Washington State University. He is currently ABD finishing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Instrumental Conducting from the University of Oklahoma. His conducting teachers include William Wakefield, Timothy Robblee, Michael Hancock, Nicholas Wallin, Brian Britt, and Brian Wolfe.
