Meet The Conductor

JON CONRAD

 

McLennan Community College to Present

Jon Conrad currently serves as Director of Bands at McLennan Community College where he conducts the Wind Ensemble, Waco Community Band, directs the MCC athletic and spirit bands, and prepares students for a future in music education. Prior to this appointment, Mr. Conrad was a Conducting Associate at the University of Oklahoma where he guest conducted the Wind Symphony and Symphony Band and was part of the teaching staff for the Pride of Oklahoma and Sound of the Sooners.

 

History

A native of the Pacific Northwest, Mr. Conrad previously served as the Director of Bands at A.C. Davis High School in Yakima, Washington, where the band program doubled after one year and developed a reputation of success on the concert stage and the marching field. In addition to his responsibilities at A.C Davis, he served as Assistant Director for the Washington High School All-State Marching Band. Mr. Conrad has worked as a clinician for events in Washington, Oregon, Oklahoma and Texas.

 

Education

Mr. Conrad holds a Bachelor of Music in Music Education and a Master of Arts in Instrumental Conducting from Washington State University. He recently completed all coursework for the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Instrumental Conducting from the University of Oklahoma. His conducting teachers include William Wakefield, Timothy Robblee, Michael Hancock, Brian Britt, and Brian Wolfe.

Beyond the Podium

Mr. Conrad resides in Woodway with his wife, Kailyn, and daughter, Reagan. When he is not engaging in musical activities, he loves spending time outdoors with his family and exploring all the amazing things that Texas has to offer. Conrad is passionate about college football, golf, and sports in general.
